Fruit of September

I was very blessed growing up my parents found a piece of property with mature fruit trees. So from middle school up I have memories of running out in the chilling autumn mornings and grabbing fruit off the tree for lunch.  I think generally we would pick them during the day but I remember the morning runs cause it was freaking cold!

Still I love the fruit on my parents property and I love sharing it with my kids, which I had a chance to do today. Little bit of pears, apples and plums. The boys loved helping and eating about as much as they picked. They couldn't pick a lot though due to their level of shortness even with the help of a ladder.

They did, however, really enjoy using a hammer on the walnuts, that is why I gave my 4 year old a hammer...he's walnut hunting. Dart can't even eat them but I suppose it was fun to crack them open for everyone else.

Even baby Reign tried to help and successfully got a leaf which he even manged to taste briefly before I wrestled it away.

Reign enjoyed watch his brothers play.
It was a sweet day with plenty of fruit to show for it. Pears for my mom, since she can't have many fruit. I sense baby food and drying are in my future.

Play Dough!

Homemade, natural, easy (although slightly messy), kid friendly (thus the mess), allergy free and just plain fun.
I googled a basic recipe (http://www.bestrecipes.com.) and substituted the flour for some old gluten free Namaste flour I recently found but didn't want to waste. If I did this again I would probability use plain wheat flour. For cost reasons and gluten free flour is just plain sticky. Not unmanageable sticky but slightly annoyingly so.

I divided the batch into four pieces. We had some fun playing with colors

Cinnamon

I started with cinnamon. Smell really good I even added a drop of cinnamon oil for extra yum fun. PS: don't you love my cheap bulk container.

Blue Green Algae

This was an experiment, meh not as well as I hoped although if I added more maybe. Still happy kid. And since I was enjoying my scents I added a drop of cedar to this one.

Pink!

I used my blush powder for pink. I have a lot left and I know it's time to buy a new one so why not? This stuff is pretty fierce on my cheeks so only a bit is ever needed. All natural and non-toxic I love Ava Anderson products and I think it did pretty well.
Oh and a drop of rose water for this one. I could help myself!

Charoal

I adore my activated charcoal and when we use it gets on things sometimes and it's so very black. I broke a little capsule open for this. I really love the way it looks. I think this was be stellar for party favors that have a rock theme to go with it. Dinosaurs, dump trucks...most anything with boys....

Fun Completed

Dart was so happy he even kept saying that he was. Good little project as he's been feeling a bit left out lately. Middle child syndrome is setting in I'm afraid. He happy sang and played with the stuff all morning. This was particularly perfect since we've all been sick and TV time has been way too much lately.
